Design Brief

This portfolio is part of your assessment for the Certificate III in Digital Interactive Media at the Alfred Brash Soundhouse. The design brief ffor the project is as follows… 

As part of your Certificate III in Digital Media you must complete the competency “BSBCRT101A – Apply critical thinking techniques” and “CUFDIG201A Maintain Interactive Content”. Part of your assessment for these competencies will consist of creating and maintaining a digital portfolio. This portfolio will be hosted at edublogs.org. You are required to research a variety of Digital Portfolio’s and design an appropriate layout and structure for your site but it must include at least the following pages.

  • A front page stating the purpose of the site
  • A projects page which will be used to showcase your work for this course
  • A blog which is updated weekly with reflections on your relevant study and projects
  • A collection of links to relevant sites and resources

In addition the site must incorporate the following elements

  • A custom image header/banner
  • A clear navigation bar or pane

The site needs to be update weekly with a run down of what you have learnt and a provided critical thinking question.

Target Audience
The target audience is instructors and fellow students of VET Digital Media.

Research / Design
Review other digital portfolios. Find 2 -3 examples of portfolios:

  • Describe them
  • Who is the target audience?
  • Describe their structure and layout?
  • Provide screen shots.
  • Collect and annotate digital or print examples of design elements and principles    (refer to Wksht1-research.pdf)

Content Development

  • Log into site, update personal information, update site information
  • Familiarise yourself with WordPress navigation
  • Create required pages
  • Choose a theme (it must include customisable headers)
  • Choose an appropriate widget set
  • Write your first blog post (remember it must post to the Blog page)
  • Do your research and write content for front page and profile page
  • Upload your banner and any other images
  • Create a list of annotated links and resources
  • Keep your blog updated weekly
